Who Runs This Organization

We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation governed by a five-person volunteer board whose working backgrounds are the things this organization actually does: nonprofit leadership, legal services, bookkeeping, communications and community support. The board holds the charitable funds, approves the sponsored projects, and answers for how both are handled. The programs are run by people who have sat on the other side of the systems they are trying to make easier.

Why We Started

The organization was built around a simple observation: the people closest to a problem usually have the clearest idea of how to solve it, and what stops them is rarely the idea. It is the infrastructure. Somebody has to receive the money, account for it, keep the records and answer for the compliance. Doing that well for our own projects meant we could do it for other people too.

Meet the Board

The organization is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. Every board position is a voting position, and board members serve without compensation.

Tyler Brewer, President and Executive Director

Tyler Brewer

President and Executive Director

Tyler oversees the direction and the day to day running of the organization, from programs and administration to fundraising, partnerships and community outreach, and he carries out the decisions the board makes. He is also its primary representative, and the person responsible for keeping every program and project pointed at the mission. He holds an MBA and has worked as a paralegal and a social services worker.

Jacob Brewer, Secretary

Jacob Brewer

Secretary

Jacob keeps the official corporate and board records: meeting minutes, resolutions, written consents and the rest of the governance paperwork. He supports board administration and makes sure the organization's official actions are properly documented. His background is bookkeeping, payroll and business operations, and he has navigated re-entry himself.

Michael helps oversee financial accountability. He maintains and reviews the financial records, monitors income and expenses, assists with financial reporting, and helps the board oversee the responsible use of donations and nonprofit resources. He is a proud U.S. Air Force veteran, and brings the service and discipline that came with it to the role.
