Trusted Dog Rescue That Keeps Families Together

Start by telling us about your household, your schedule, and the kind of dog that would fit it. We match dogs to homes rather than run a queue, so the conversation comes first and the paperwork follows. If nothing suits right now we will say so, and let you know when something changes.

Ask about adopting

That is a large part of what this project exists to do. When resources allow we provide pet food and essential supplies to owners going through a temporary hardship, because a short rough patch should not cost somebody their dog. Ask early rather than late, while there are still options.

The dog goes somewhere safe first, then gets assessed for health, temperament and what kind of home will suit. Temporary care carries it through that stage. Only after that do we look for a placement, and we would rather a dog wait a little longer than land somewhere it will not stay.

We take in surrendered dogs when we have the capacity to look after them properly, which changes month to month. Before you surrender, ask whether support would let you keep the dog instead, because that is usually the better outcome for everyone. If it truly is not workable, tell us and we will be straight with you about what we can do.

Fostering is the single most useful thing, because temporary care is the bottleneck between rescue and placement. Beyond that, pet food and supplies get used immediately, and money covers the veterinary care that arrives without warning. Our other ways to give page sets out the full range.

resQdogs is one of two direct projects. The other is Tranz Legal, which opens up affordable routes to changing a name or a gender marker on official records. Beyond those two, we run a fiscal sponsorship program for charitable work led by other people.
